We will cover the art of foil fencing while stressing the proper form and techniques of Olympic style fencing. Program Lego vehicles to perform specific tasks. Test your bot against the other bots in the class. Lego Hill Climbers will build and test vehicle designed to climb steep inclines. SumoBots will pit bots head to head with the intent to push the other bot out of the arena circle. Both sessions will program from the Lego NXT brain. Several opportunities to build, test, redesign and retest will be afforded in every class. Class focuses on science, engineering technology and math as well as team building and leadership. The Mural Project

We’ll lead students through the time periods and styles of murals in history as an influence in creating a class project. Four students will be paired with a Poet House artist to design the structure, formulate the concept, and finalize the project in a public arena. Confirmed spaces include the Truckstop Skate Park, Bend Community Center, and other locations. Diversity, community, and social commentary will be emphasized throughout the topics and themes painted in this course. Fee: $80 ID $108 OD *C

T. H.R.E.A.D.S. (The Half-Recycled Economic Apparel Design School)

They will study fashion from a personal standpoint. The students will take tours of local stores and boutiques to get a basic understanding of what’s current and what style they like or would like to create. SPIT: Spoken Poetry is Transformational

Students will be encouraged to listen, write, and perform poetry with focus on social commentary, and tone, and eventually compete in a poetry competition - a Slam. The class will meet for general discussion and performances, and will also have workshop times available where students can come in and get one-on-one help from instructor Jason Graham aka Mosley Wotta. Screen Printing and T-Shirt Design

The Art of Stand-Up Comedy

B-Boy/Hip-Hop & Contemporary Dance
